Fly Shop Guy gets an “Ear Full”

Believe you me honkies; those are indeed, the notorious biting Griffith’s Gnats, and they're out in full force. So be sure and DEET-up before you head out this weekend! Don’t let a swarm of tiny insects spoil your fishing weekend… Especially, if you’re fishing on the same water I am say between 7 and 9am. However that seems unlikely unless your planning on stopping by the shop to help out with the morning plunging for brown trout; compliments of my boss no doubt.

Merkin: The story behind the muff

Ever wondered how Del Brown came up with the name "Merkin" for his crab pattern? Ever wonder what a "Merkin" is? Well, if you want to know check this out. Volume is required. Thanks to Blanco Ambassador and Resident Pimp Painter Paul Puckett for this one, and thanks to the production team at WWW.FISH-N-FEATHERS.COM for taking the time to answer one of Fly Fishing's urban legends.

What's in Blanco's Basket?

Easter Eggs of course. We love the different sizes and colors, and though there's no chance of finding a $5 bill inside of one of these, we're certain the contents are too valuable to put a $ sign on. The Blanco Basket salutes the kind of eggs that will hopefully grow into very strong, very large, slippery swimmers. So sit back, suck on an egg, and enjoy 5 of our Easter favorites:
1) Whitefish Eggs

2) Steelhead Eggs

3) Smallmouth Bass Eggs
4) Chinook King Salmon Eggs
5) Carp Eggs

A Blanco Moment: Overalls on Ice

With the Spring getting its thaw on, we figured we'd offer up one more from the ice. How do you spot a Honky on the ice? Look for the guy with no shirt and wearing some variety of overalls. Oh yeah, he'll probably be holding a stick and staring at a hole. Cheers and happy honkying!

Jaws: Revenge of the Kiwi

That's right, Blanco goes to New Zealand. The Blanco Honky Nation is growing, and infecting unsuspecting fish across the globe. Many thanks to Blanco Honky Ambassador, Dawson Dunning for these sweet shots of a beautiful New Zealand Brown. Dawson is on sabbatical in New Zealand for the better part of the year, teasing trout and chasing sheep. So stay tuned, because there's plenty more to come from Dawson Dunning, down under. Over and out honkies...
